From December 2008 to April 2009, I worked with the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines near Fallujah, Iraq as a civilian Navy contractor. Afterwards, I started working for a team of Army combat engineers in northern Iraq. I'm part of an aircrew, working in an aircraft as a mission analyst. In Iraq, I've experienced sand storms, car bombs, bone-chilling wintertime helicopter rides, living sometimes with no electricity or running water, long nights spent sleeping in cold passenger terminals and more. It's not for everyone, but it's been an amazing, enriching experience. Read some more and see some photos. I was born and raised in Upstate New York. I have a degree from Embry-Riddle. I lived in Hawaii for almost 20 years. I have a formal background in software testing and integration, but now I work mostly in computer security and technical operations. I write software whenever I can, sometimes for work and sometimes for fun (I wrote every line of code that runs this website). Take a peek at The PoJo. What's important to me? More trivia about me. A primitive version of this website first appeared in 1997. It started as a way for me to share photos with family and friends. But it's grown in scope and complexity; I enjoy getting comments from total strangers who happen to stumble on this site and find something interesting or useful.
