Hanalei Bay

Morey (in the foreground, on the left, in the two-piece white bathing suit) approaches the waters of Waikoko Beach with one of her friends from Island School. The Island School kindergarten class was on an overnight camping trip to the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii. Waikoko is on the extreme western edge of Hanalei Bay. The skies were hazy because of volcanic fog that had drifted all the way here from the Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island. This is the beach along Hanalei Bay on Kauai's north shore in Hawaii. The beach fronting the bay is a single continuous beach, but the local residents have given nicknames to certain areas. I took this picture from a picnic area called Pine Trees in the shade of a grove of old Norfolk Pines. Makahoa Point can be seen in the distance. I was on the north shore with Kirsten for a company picnic. This photo was taken on Saturday, July 19, 2003 and added to the web on Monday, July 21, 2003. Image copyright 2010 polihale.com |
